Eureka Church Statement of Faith
God
We believe in one God, Creator of all things — holy, infinitely perfect, and eternally existing in a loving unity of three equally divine Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. God has limitless knowledge and sovereign power, and has graciously purposed from eternity to redeem a people for Himself and to make all things new for His own glory.
Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is God incarnate — fully God and fully man, one Person in two natures. He is Israel's promised Messiah, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life, was crucified under Pontius Pilate, rose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, and now sits at the right hand of God the Father as our High Priest and Advocate.
The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit is the third Person of the one triune God, eternally one with the Father and the Son, and worthy of the same worship and glory. In all He does, He glorifies Jesus Christ and applies the salvation planned by the Father and accomplished by the Son. He convicts the world of sin, regenerates sinners, and unites and adopts believers into the family of God — indwelling, guiding, and empowering them for Christ-like living and service.
The Human Condition
We believe God created Adam and Eve in His image, upright and without sin — but they sinned when tempted by Satan. Because of Adam's fall, every person inherits a sinful nature and is guilty before God, alienated from Him and under His just wrath, by nature and by choice. Only through God's saving work in Jesus Christ can anyone be rescued, reconciled, and made new.
The Church
We believe the true church is made up of all who have been justified by God's grace through faith alone in Christ alone, united by the Holy Spirit as the body of Christ, with Christ as its Head. This is expressed in local churches whose membership is made up of believers. Jesus gave His church two ordinances — baptism and the Lord's Supper — which visibly express the gospel. These do not save, but confirm and nourish genuine faith when practiced by believers.
Baptism — We practice believer's baptism as the ordinary expression of new life in Christ, along with infant dedication, while welcoming into membership those baptized as infants in other Christian traditions who give credible evidence of faith.
The Lord's Supper — Open to all who profess faith in Christ and are walking in repentance and faith, taken in remembrance of Christ's death, with each person examining their own heart beforehand.
Church Discipline — Practiced according to Scripture, for the glory of God, the purity and witness of the church, and the restoration of those who stray to repentance and fellowship.
The Bible
We believe God has spoken through the Scriptures — Old and New Testament — through human authors, and that the Bible, as originally written, is without error, the complete revelation of God's will for salvation, and the final authority for every area of life. It is fully sufficient for faith and living, and no other experience, revelation, or tradition may stand above or alongside it. We are called to believe it, obey it, and trust it completely.
The Work of Christ
We believe Jesus Christ stood in our place, and through His shed blood on the cross made the perfect, all-sufficient sacrifice for our sins. His atoning death and victorious resurrection are the only ground of salvation, received by grace through faith in Him alone.
Christian Living
We believe God's justifying grace always produces a changed life. We are called to love God supremely and others sacrificially — caring for one another, showing compassion to the poor, and pursuing justice for the oppressed. Through God's Word, the Spirit's power, and prayer, we stand against evil, and in obedience to Christ we make disciples of all people, bearing witness to the gospel in word and deed.
Christ's Return
We believe in the personal, bodily, and glorious return of our Lord Jesus Christ. Though the timing is known only to God, His coming calls for constant expectancy — motivating godly living, sacrificial service, and energetic mission until He comes.
Response and Eternal Destiny
We believe God commands everyone, everywhere, to respond to the gospel by turning to Him in repentance and faith, receiving the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe God will raise the dead and judge the world — assigning the unbeliever to eternal judgment and the believer to everlasting joy with the Lord in the new heaven and the new earth, to the praise of His glorious grace.
